               Art Class with Ms. Valery in the newly renovated classroom for Grades 1 and 2 November of 2016 was a month full of significant changes. On a global level, the Americans elected Trump as their president, and El Comandante's passing marked the end of an era. Regardless of where we stand on these issues, the one thing that we can all agree upon is that we want this world to be better for our children. Little Ballet Stars

During this 50 minute to 1 hr. class for children from 2 and a half to 4 years of age, children will learn to independently remain in a class setting where their ballet teacher is the centre of attention.  They learn to focus, understand and follow the simple instructions provided.  During this class children are physically active at all times, they run, jump, turn and follow all actions as explained by the teacher. The Nutcracker by Victoria Ballet Company

A Holiday Tradition for the Whole Family to Enjoy     The history of The Nutcracker ballet dates back to December of 1892, when it was performed for the first time at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, cradle of the most famous ballet dancers and choreographers of classical ballet. The original story on which the Nutcracker’s libretto was based was written by E.T.A. Hoffman with the title “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”. A later adaptation of this work by Alexander Dumas was the version used by renowned Ballet Masters and Choreographers, Marious Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The music was commissioned to Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky whose Nutcracker Suite is one of the most familiar and long-lived recorded selections in classical music. A Healthy Diet for Ballet Dancers

Are you feeling less energetic in the studio lately? Are you having a hard time staying well during competition season? Do you seem to be suffering injury after injury? Your diet could be the culprit. If you're not fueling your body with the proper foods, your dancing as well as your health may begin to suffer. Every dancer should follow a healthy diet. The body performs at its best when filled with the proper foods. Dancing requires lots of energy, so dancers must consume enough calories to keep up with physical demands. A dancer's diet should consist of a balance of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals, and adequate fluids. Ballet Summer Intensive 2016
