In preparation for the  three-act Cinderella ballet premier that will take place at Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on June 10, 11 and 12, 2011, Victoria Ballet Company presents the first act of Cinderella.

Cinderella works from early morning. Her true friends, the Mice, help her. Her Step-sisters get up and start quarrelling. The Step-mother stops her own children, whom she loves, and vents her anger, instead, on Cinderella, whom she hates. The Fairy, disguised as a beggar, comes into the house and asks for a piece of bread. The Step-mother and Step-sisters force her out, but Cinderella manages to share her bread. Cinderella is alone again, and the Mice help her. The Step-mother returns and is angry at Cinderella’s good humour and scolds Cinderella. The step-sisters return happy with shopping bags and show each other their new outfits for the court ball. A Dance Teacher arrives to prepare them for the ball. He is not happy with them until he calls Cinderella to join the class. Everyone leaves for the ball and Cinderella stays alone trying on a dress left behind and dreaming about the Prince. The Fairy appears and presents her crystal shoes. The Fairy invites the Four Seasons of the year, Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, they present Cinderella with gifts, including a tiara and a beautiful dress for the ball. Cinderella is happy. The Fairy blesses Cinderella, who then leaves for the ball. (to be continued: June 10, 11 and 12, 2011)ACT II
