SYNOPSIS
ACT I
Cinderella works from early morning. Her true friends, the Mice, help her. Her Step-sisters get up and start quarrelling. The Step-mother stops her own children, whom she loves, and vents her anger, instead, on Cinderella, whom she hates. Cinderella stays alone, and the Fairy appears as the memory of her mother. She entertains Cinderella, calling Ladybugs and Flower Fairies to dance for her. The Step-mother returns and is angry at Cinderella’s good humour. The Step-sisters and their friends return with shopping bags and show each other their new things for the Court Ball. A Dance Teacher arrives to prepare them for the Ball. He is not happy with them until Cinderella joins the class. Everyone leaves for the Ball and Cinderella stays alone, trying on a dress left behind and dreaming of the Prince. The Fairy appears with the Crystal Shoes for Cinderella. The Flower Fairies present her with a dress; the Mice give her a crown. Deer are ready to take her to the Ball. The Fairy tells Cinderella that Elves will notify her just before midnight, as her dress will turn into an old robe at 12 o’clock. Cinderella leaves for the Ball.

ACT II
At the Royal Court, nobles perform the minuet (a dance of French origin, fashionable in the 18th century) while waiting for the Prince. Every young lady has come to try her luck in winning the Prince. When he comes he dances with many but none is to his liking. The Step-sisters and even the Step-mother are trying to attract him. Cinderella’s appearance changes his mood. Everyone is astounded by her beauty. The Prince and Cinderella fall in love, and they start dancing, happy, not even aware of anyone else. Suddenly, Elves appear to warn Cinderella, and the clock strikes 12 times. Cinderella leaves the palace in a hurry, loosing her shoe. The Prince is looking for her and when he finds her he offers her his heart and Crown. All are happy!
