STATEMENT

The Victoria Ballet Company of Canada, formerly known as Victoria Children’s Theatre, is not-for-profit charitable organization that promotes the art of dance and strives to make Canada a number one ballet nation. The corporation is subject to the Charities Accounting Act and the Charitable Gifts Act. Its charity number is 8793170006RR0001.

The Victoria Ballet Academy is the school of the Victoria Ballet Company.

Since its organization in 2004, the company has successfully staged the ballet Sleeping Beauty on the music of Peter Tchaikovsky and the choreography of Marius Petipa and our choreographers: Victoria Mironova and Helen Dmitrieva. The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, opened to the public in February of 2009, initiated its dance life with the Sleeping Beauty of Victoria Ballet Company on March 9 and 10, 2009. The show was accepted so warmly by the audience that the administration of the Centre offered Victoria Ballet Company the exclusive  right to stage the Nutcracker during the winter season of 2009-2010.

The other performances of the Company are the ballets Cinderella, Pictures from Exhibition and Aurora’s Birthday. The company has presented the dance of the Angels in the opera “Hansel and Gretel” with the Opera York.
