The Nutcracker 2013
Pretty soon the holiday season will be here, and you will begin preparing to celebrate with family and friends. What better way to enjoy some quality time together than to attend a classical ballet performance? The Nutcracker has been one of the most widely performed ballets in history. Its first staging took place more than 100 years ago at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, in December of 1892.
This December, Victoria Ballet Company is once again staging The Nutcracker at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. Four wonderful shows, featuring the talent of Anton Korsakov, soloist of the Marinskii Theatre from St. Petersburg, Russia and Anastasia Loskutov (leading ballerina of Victoria Ballet Company), will take place on Friday, December 20, Saturday, December 21, and Sunday, December 22 at 7 p.m. and a matinee on Saturday, December 21 at 2 p.m.
With striking backdrops, dazzling costumes, and the well-known musical score by Tchaikovsky, we will take you to the magical dreams of little Mary on her way to the palace with the Nutcracker prince.
We hope you will enjoy Victoria Ballet Company’s production staged under the Artistic Direction of Victoria Mironova, choreographed by both Victoria Mironova and Elena Dmitrieva , and with the participation of International ballet guest stars and ballet students.
