In December, parents are invited to observe their child’s progress during an open lesson. The children will have their first theatre stage experience during the academic year and will also dance at the school recital which is held in May or June. By having all groups appear on the theatre stage, whether or not they are ready as a dancer, we are encouraging them to explore their vivid imagination and dream of someday becoming ballerinas or dancers.
Children in this group attend classes twice a week. This program is designed for those who are new to our school / dance program.
This program is designed for children who attends the school for second year and for new motivated students. Children of this group attend classes twice a week.
This program is designed for beginners or continuing students who chose not to advance to the next level. Our instructors motivate the children to be the best that they can be in a fun and supportive environment. The children are encouraged to participate in a dance class in order for them to develop basic dance skills as well and learn about cooperation and team-work.
Classes take place twice a week for 2 hours each. Children in this group take classes for the second year, and some are very motivated beginners. In this program, the instructor works closely with the children to form a solid base by developing skills which they will use throughout their future in dance. The children learn about responsibility and discipline while discovering new skills in a classroom setting. Students take classes of Ballet Gymnastics for faster and harmonious physical development. The classes of jazz are introduced for the first time, as the students are ready now for some spetialized lessons.
This twice-weekly program is for those who have been with the school for two or three years or transfered from an advanced program of another dance school. Our Ballet Gymnastics program is an excellent way to get into top competitive physical condition. In December, parents are invited to observe their child’s progress during an open lesson. The children will participate in one or more theatre performances during the academic year. In January, the students traditionally perform in the ballet “Sleeping Beauty” and the school recital takes place in May or June.
The classes are designed for students of this specific age who have attend the school for 1-2 years. Classes of Hip-hop, Jazz and Character dance are included in the program of choreographic education.
Ballet Level 2 is an intensive program which helps children to develop physical strength, strong dancing skills and prepares them to dance competitively. The program teaches ballet/pointes, Ballet Gymnastics, character dance and Modern/Jazz dance, all of which are skills necessary for competition. The program contributes to the overall development of the child: body, spirit and mind. On Fridays, the focus is on character dance (the picture above shows a lesson of the Spanish character dance) and ballet. The children are ambitious as they prepare for real performances, vying for the key dances in stage presentations. Roles are distributed according to the level of skill and present achievements. During the year, some parents may be approached by the school staff regarding planning for the full-time education at the Victoria Ballet Academy. Enquiries about such opportunities are welcome. Key events take place throughout the academic year, such as
exams in December, various theatre performances during the year (in January, the students traditionally perform in the ballet “Sleeping Beauty”) and the school recital in May or June. Permission forms are distributed prior to participation in any performance. The Victoria Ballet Academy also offers an excellent summer, winter and spring vacation series for children. Summer programs are available for children aged 4 to 14, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday through Friday. Children can join our summer dance camp, winter and spring vacation camps which are offered on a full- or part-time basis.
This program is prepared for new students who are starting to learn dance at a relatively late age, or continuing students who want to take only a part of the offered program. It is never late to start! These students can choos a program from 2 to 6 and more hours a week. The program offers ballet/pointes, Ballet Gymnastics, character dance and Modern/Jazz dance, all of which are skills necessary for competition.
