Children, in most cases, begin dance classes when dance is an activity chosen by their parents. Sometimes, the children identify with their desire. Introductory skills are taught in a fun and encouraging weekly learning environment. In one year your child will be ready for a more advanced program. In December, parents are invited to observe their child’s progress during the open lesson. The children will perform on the theatre stage during the school recital that is held in May or June, such as the ballet “Cinderella”. By having all groups appear on the theatre stage, whether or not they are ready as dancers, we are encouraging them to explore their vivid imagination and dream of someday becoming ballet dancers or ballerinas. Additionally, our staff teaches at the Kid’s Island Day Care Centre. |

This program is designed for beginners or those continuing students who chose not to advance to the next level. Our instructors motivate the children to be the best that they can be in a supportive and fun environment. The children are encouraged to participate in a dance class in order for them to develop basic dance skills as well as to learn about cooperation and team-work. In this program, the instructor works closely with the children to form a solid base by developing skills which they will use throughout their future in dance. The children learn about responsibility and discipline while discovering new skills in a classroom setting. Students take classes of Ballet Gymnastics for faster and harmonious physical development. The classes of jazz are introduced for the first time, as the students are ready now for some spetialized lessons.
This twice-weekly program is for those who have been with the school for two or three years or have transferred from an advanced program of another dance school. Our Ballet Gymnastics program is an excellent way to get into top competitive physical condition. In December, parents are invited to observe their child’s progress during the open lesson. Ballet Level 4 is an intensive program which helps children to develop physical strength, strong dancing skills and prepares them to dance competitively. The program contributes to the overall development of the child: body, spirit and mind. On Fridays, the focus is on Character Dance (the picture above shows a lesson of the Spanish character dance) and ballet. The children are ambitious as they prepare for real performances, vying for the key dances in stage presentations. Roles are distributed according to the level of skill and present achievements. During the year, some parents may be approached by the school staff regarding planning for full-time education at the Victoria Ballet Academy. Enquiries about such opportunities are welcome. Key events take place throughout the academic year, such as
