Peter Kent, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Americas) visits the Victoria Ballet Academy

The Honourable Peter Kent, M.P., Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (the Americas) and his wife, Mrs. Cilla Kent, visited the Victoria Ballet Academy on Saturday, November 8, 2008. They congratulated the school’s grade 10 students Lisa Mironova, Anastasia Loskutov and Maria Petin with their successful representation of Canada at the 2nd International Ballet Competition in Beijing, China, which took place from October 25th to 31st, 2008. They also expressed their pleasure at the students’ safe return home. Mr. and Mrs. Kent posed for a picture with the school’s students, the school’s Founder and Artistic Director, Mrs. Victoria Mironova, the school’s Principal, Mr. Vladimir Demine and Mrs. Helen Dmitrieva, Teacher and Choreographer.

Thornhill Village Festival News

Our Mayor, Frank Scarpitti, and our Councillor, Valerie Burke, of Markham, Ontario, attended the Open House of the Victoria Ballet Academy during the Thornhill Village Festival on September 20, 2008. In a picture taken after the ballet performances, we have the Mayor, the Councillor, and also Vladimir Demine, School Principal and Victoria Mironova, Artistic Director, with their students.

Victoria Ballet Academy Hosts Thornhill Village Festival

Open House on Saturday, Sep 20, 2008, 10:00 am- 2:30 pm

The Thornhill Festival Parade, filled with a variety of music, entertainment and local groups, begins at noon on Centre Street and makes its way south on Yonge St. to Arnold Ave. The Victoria Ballet Academy, located at the south-east corner of Centre St. and Yonge St, hosts the Festival Headquarters. The school is open for visitors and lovers of dance and music. A special ballet concert will be offered to general public starting 1:30 pm. Free admission.

NOTE: Yonge St. is closed to regular traffic from 11:30am to 1:30pm.

CLASSES START on Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Dear friends, the beautiful summer time is almost over. If you were not at
our summer camp, we have been missing you. Please note that our regular
classes start on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Please consult the calendar
chart that we have distributed when you registered your child. Example:
students who attend the Victoria Ballet Academy on Tuesdays and Fridays,
will start their classes on Tuesday, September 2. Those who attend the
school on Wednesdays and Saturdays, will start their classes on Wednesday,
September 3, and so on.

PROGRAM CHOICE
Range of school services

Victoria Ballet Academy offers a wide range of services:

  • Dance (ballet, character dance, ballroom dance, jazz, belly dance,

hip-hop)

  • Music (piano, violin, cello, guitar, drums)
  • Choir (two age groups)- Voice (starting from 7 years)
  • After-school program (choose any day when you want your child picked-up

from the school, provided with hot meal and supervised over the home-work
preparation).

BIRTHDAY PARTY
Do not forget to celebrate

Do not forget to schedule the Birthday Party for your child at the
Victoria Ballet Academy. The party may include a ballet performance by
older students, fun dance for the celebrity, music, singing, painting,
drawing, sculpting classes, and the Birthday Cake party at our party room
upstairs.

Victoria Ballet Academy goes to Beijing

The Competition Committee of the Beijing Dance Academy has been chosen three students of the Victoria Ballet Academy through video selection to take part in International Ballet Competition that will be held in October 2008.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Mironova, Anastasia Loskutov and Maria Petin.

Ballet School Enrolment Continues

Victoria Ballet Academy is now auditioning children for the full-time professional ballet
program
(ages 9 and older) in the full-time independent school and children aged 4 to 9
for the pre-professional ballet training at the full-time school.

The Victoria Ballet Academy is enrolling new students to the programs in:
- ballet, character dance and jazz (evening and weekend program)
- music and vocal (private and group classes)
- art
- after-school (transportation and meals can be provided)

Open House Success

The Open House of the Victoria Ballet Academy took place on May 31, 2008. The guests witnessed the successful examination of the school’s students in classical ballet and character dance. Representatives of different ballet schools, including the National Ballet School, rewarded the grade 9 students with high and very high marks. The grade 9 students have advanced to their 5-th year of the professional choreographic education.

All our friends and neighbours are invited to join our Open House celebration on May 31, Saturday, 2008. In the program: meeting our new home at 7751 Yonge Street, intersection with Centre Street, Thornhill, grade 9 professional ballet examination, starting at 1 pm, meeting our staff and students.
