Boarding School
Victoria Ballet Academy of Canada offers primary and secondary school programs, as well as professional ballet classes. As a boarding school, we welcome students from all over the world.
Victoria Ballet Academy was founded with the participation and inspiration of Mrs. Victoria Mironova (Evdokimova), M. Ed. one of the most distinguished Ballet teachers in Canada, a former Russian Professional ballerina and Ballet teacher of the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The school’s aim is to train the students to become professional ballet dancers, and also to use ballet as a tool to educate and prepare young minds according to the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, so that they can enroll and excel in the world’s best colleges and universities.
Ballet
At Victoria Ballet Academy, Ballet is taught according to the Vaganova syllabus.
Professional ballet study starts at 9 years of age and continues for 8 more years until our students graduate from Grade 12. Earlier grades (Junior Kindergarten to grade 4) are considered preparatory for the professional instruction. At the same time, students take all the necessary academic subjects towards their Secondary School Diploma. French and other languages are taught as second and third languages, while instruction of all subjects is conducted in English.
School
Our students attend the school Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. They have a one week break every two months, and a two-week Christmas break. Students may attend additional ballet and contemporary dance classes on Sundays, and language classes on Saturdays. You can consult our school calendar.
Boarding and home-stay students are supervised at all times, except during their leisure time. They are provided with a room, meals, transportation to and from the school, and with constant personal support. Parents of boarding students are welcome to visit the school and the residence where their children will be staying.
Tuition fee
The full-time academic and ballet school tuition fee is up to 16,000 CAD per year, depending on the courses taken. Parents may inquire about available monetary support since assistance is available to eligible students. The boarding or home-stay fee is $1000 CAD per month.
Admission
An assessment (audition) of the child’s physical and creative potential will be scheduled. Local students must take an audition-class on January 24, 2010 (Sunday). Out-of-country and non-local area students are invited to send a video of their audition taken by a ballet teacher.
